Genesee Valley Woodcarvers (GVW) is a carving club based in Rochester, New York.  The club was founded to provide a forum for woodcarvers to meet, exhibit their work,  share experiences, and exchange information.  GVW has an extensive lending library of books, periodicals, video tapes and other reference materials.

Part of GVW's mission is to promote woodcarving as an art form rather than merely a hobby.  To increase public awareness of the woodcarving art, members demonstrate, exhibit, and sell their work both locally and nationwide.  GVW members have been named Wildfowl Artist of the Year at the New York State Fair, won awards at the Annual Ward World Championship in Ocean City, Maryland, the Caricature Carvers of America annual competitions, and many other national shows and competitions.  To perpetuate the art form, members also teach classes and host informal carving groups.

The Genesee Valley Woodcarvers (GVW) are celebrating their 50th anniversary in 2025.  From the first meeting of six people in the fall of 1975, the organization has numbered as many as 100 from Monroe and the six surrounding counties in New York.
